Leadership Development Program

The Pembina Institute Leadership Development program is a company-specific leadership development course to build capacity and develop a common leadership language across all national offices.

Delivery mode: Blended – 25 hours

Learning Outcomes:

Leadership basics.

  • Understand key leadership characteristics and values
  • Recognize the difference between leadership and management
  • Recognize leadership challenges and how to work through getting or determining solutions
  • Understand the leader’s role in strategic planning

Working with people.

  • Understand your role and your relationships with your staff, interns,
    volunteers, colleagues, consultants and other stakeholders
  • Understand how to be a team leader or member of a multi-function team,
    and recognize conflict and resolve it
  • Understand team-building techniques and the importance of group
    dynamics

Decision-making and problem-solving.

  • Understand the basic steps in decision-making and problem-solving
  • Know the components of a business case
  • Be able to develop and use a business case for decision-making

Policy development and management.

  • Clarity and understanding of policy and procedures and relationship between HR and Hiring Managers
  • Understand how the performance Management Policies relate to the
    implementation of operational decisions
  • Understand how the respectful workplace policies relate to the
    implementation of operational decisions
